Recovery Premium

Our use of the Catch-Up Premium and the Recovery Premium

Children and young people across the country have experienced unprecedented disruption to their education as a result of coronavirus (COVID-19). The Catch Up Premium was provided in the 2020/21 academic year for schools to support children to catch up for lost learning. The Recovery Premium has been provided to support 'catch up' in the 2021/22 academic year.

As a Trust and as a school, we have committed to ensuring all children are supported to achieve as highly as they would have had the pandemic not have taken place. Last year, as all children returned to school in both September and March, we identified the priorities for mitigating the impact of the pandemic. To support us in addressing these priorities and making the best use of this funding, we then used the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) guide for schools which identifies evidence-based approaches to create our Catch-Up Premium plan. In the current academic year, our Pupil Premium Strategy details how our recovery premium will be spent

As with all government funding, school leaders must be able to account for how this money is being used to achieve the central goal of schools getting back on track and teaching a normal curriculum as quickly as possible. Given their role in ensuring schools spend funding appropriately and in holding schools to account for educational performance, our governors and trustees scrutinise our approaches to catch-up.
