Our School Council: Making a Real Difference

At Brunel, our School Council plays a vital role in shaping our school and giving every child a voice. The Council meets weekly, focusing each term on a specific theme to guide their projects and initiatives.

In the Autumn Term, the children explored the question, "How can we make a difference to those less fortunate than ourselves?"

This led to the creation of Brunel Warmer Bags, which they personally presented to the homeless at Wesley Methodist Church, showing compassion in action.

In Spring 2026, the focus has been on improving our lunch hall experience. The School Council have led class councils, gathered feedback from their peers, and proposed ideas to enhance the environment for everyone. Over the years, the School Council has made a lasting impact on Brunel and the wider community. Their achievements include: Conducting litter picks around the school and local community. Leading a nationwide recycling competition, which we won, resulting in a new playground for the school. Improving the school grounds and creating more activities for playtimes. Our School Council doesn't just work within Brunel-they also regularly meet with other school councils, including those from Brunelfields in Bristol, exchanging ideas and learning from one another.

These experiences of leadership help shape our children into thoughtful, confident, and capable young leaders. At Brunel, of course, this is their school, and the School Council ensures their voices help make it the best it can be.
