Spring Term Week 1

Marazion class have had a super first week back after the Christmas break!

They were thrilled to try some cave art to introduce our topic (see last blog post) and were 'wowed' by our toilet roll timeline to demonstrate prehistory and how long ago this was!

We have started our new English sequence of learning around 'Stone Age Boy' and the children can retell the story really well whilst using tier 2 vocabulary from the book.

Year 3 have started to work with multiplication and division and Year 4 continue to do so.

In PE, we started our dance unit with the theme of weather. We did our wind section and the children were wonderfully creative with their ideas and performances.

Homework:
New maths homework is now on Anton.

Reading 5x a week and Reading Records to be signed each time as we give out rewards and take note for our KS2-wide book trail.

Please rehearse times tables weekly

Our classroom has turned into a cave!!

We were excited discover that our classroom had 'turned' rather cave like and we enjoyed doing some cave drawings to showcase our Christmas holidays and introduce our new historical question: 'Would you have preferred to live in the Stone, Bronze or Iron Age?

Welcome to Spring 1.

Welcome back Marazion Class.

We hope that you have had a restful Christmas break and enjoyed time together.
We can't wait to welcome the children back tomorrow and have another exciting half term of learning lined up.

A festive week!

Merry Christmas!

We've had a busy last week full of festive cheer. We have enjoyed Christmas performances, enjoyed visiting the Baptist church for their live nativity, had a wonderful Christingle and enjoyed a class treat of a Christmas film all cosied up with our cuddly toys and blankets. Christmas dinner was enjoyed on Wednesday and we had a carolled to St. Anne's on Tuesday afternoon where the children proudly sang.

As well as all of this, the children have written fantastic 'Hansel and Gretel: Volcano Adventure' stories, using the skills they have learnt in our narrative English unit. They have come to the end of their maths units, showing us good progress and have displayed their great knowledge in Geography answering 'How Active is our Planet?'

It has been a pleasure to teach wonderful Marazion this term and we hope that you have a restful and enjoyable Christmas!

Another lovely week in Marazion class - busy and fun!

We watched the EYFS/KS1 performance and can't wait to see the Nursery one next week. We've been busy rehearsing our Christingle service and hope to see all parents and carers at St Stephens Church next Wednesday at 6pm!

On Thursday, we visited the church for the Christmas Tree Festival - always a festive favourite and the children wowed the whole of Fore street by singing Christmas carols beautifully the whole way!

In Science on Friday, we found out about freezing points and carried out another experiment!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....

This week, our classroom has transformed into a world of gingerbread! The class have enjoyed making cards and gingerbread men tree decorations. Our new English topic of Hansel and Gretel is being immersed in well, given our classroom theme and our adored book corner has transformed too which is giving us all much joy!
Thank you to those who supported our Hunt the Issy evening and to those who entered our Gingerbread House decorating competition...winner to be revealed next week!

Autumn 2 Week 3

Marazion class have truly made us so proud this week. They performed their class assembly to an incredible high standard. The oracy skills shown were superb. Thank you to this parents and grandparents who were able to join us.

As well as our rehearsals and performance, the children have continued to work hard across the curriculum which has included learning about Democracy in PSHE, Rosh Hashanah in RE, continuing our work with earthquakes in geography, writing our first draft of a non-chronological report in English and column addition and subtraction in maths (Y3)!

We thoroughly enjoyed our STEM workshop on Tuesday where the children used their Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematical skills to work to design and code robots.

We have been delighted with the homework that has been coming in this week. Thank you so much for your support with this. The children have shone when sharing what they have done.

We also learnt some vital road safety skills in our assembly on Wednesday. Friday is ‘wear bright’ to school (on coats and/or bags-still normal school uniform please) where a prize will be given to the best class.

Next Thursday is our school reading café after school where families can pop up to the KS2 hall to enjoy books together and for fun around books. It will be lovely to see your support with this.
