Dear Parents and Carers,
We are delighted that your child has been offered a Reception place at Brunel Primary and Nursery Academy.
For those of you whose children already attend our Nursery; thank you for continuing your journey with us, and for those who are new to our school; we very much look forward to getting to know you.
As a school, we are committed to smooth and timely transitions that allow the children to settle in, get to know their teachers and make relationships with their new friends. We fully believe that parents and carers play a key role in this transition so that you too can feel reassured that your child is safe and happy.
Usually we would start our transition programme in the summer term but due to the current circumstances we are postponing all visits until September. You will be receiving a letter very soon which will set out exactly what to expect.
Our extremely experienced Reception Team have been hard at work creating videos and welcome packs for you all to look at both now and over the holidays, so that you will know who is who on that first day. You should also be receiving regular updates through your Tapestry accounts.
Below is the information that is included in your welcome back. (Please email the school if you do not receive this by the end of July) In the meantime, however, please feel free to browse our school website and perhaps even follow us on Facebook (Brunel Primary and Nursery Academy) or Twitter (@Brunel_Academy).
I look forward to seeing you all in September.
Mrs Matthews is the teacher of Portwrinkle class. Here are some things you can find out about her.
Here is a little booklet with some pictures of the classroom and the staff who work in Portwrinkle class.
This shows you the route into school and where you will need to wait at the start and end of the day.
This document was produced by Peterborough council but it contains some useful ideas for helping your child when starting school.
Below are some documents you might find useful. The 'Welcome to Reception' document gives you all of the information about class routines and hopefully will answer any questions you may have. There is a copy of our 'All About Me' which we ask you to fill in for your child. The 'Learning Journal' document explains the purpose of a Learning Joournal. 'Correct Grip' shows you how to help your child to develop an efficient pencil grip. We have documents for left handed children which can be collected from school.
