KIRFs: Autumn 2

New KIRFs for a new Half Term…

KIRFs are Key Instant Recall Facts that students in each year group learn so that they can answer them as speedily as possible. Knowing these core facts to automaticity boosts both confidence and attainment in maths lessons and 99 club. Check out the document below which details the KIRFs for each year group (Nursery to Year 6), as well as a range of exciting suggestions of learning methods and activities.

St Anne's Care Home

We have been enjoying our return to St Anne's care home; this week we took up lots of puzzles which unfortunately tipped up in the bag so their was a mass of pieces to sort through to be able to complete the puzzles.

We are always treated to a drink and a biscuit, and we always end with our version of 'If you're happy and you know it'.

Our new focus story

Our new focus story this term is 'Happy Birthday Sam' but we will be looking at the other book in the series called 'Titch' as well.

We will base our learning in Nursery around the story, focusing on how old we are, who has had a recent birthday, or one coming up soon; who in the group is the youngest and who is the eldest; what our number looks like, and what will be the next number.

We will be thinking about other celebrations that our family might take part in, and what are some of the traditions of birthdays (cards, cakes and presents) and making our own.

We will be thinking about what we can do now that we couldn't do when we were younger, and even what we looked like.

We have asked our parent / carers for photos of the children when they were babies, so we are looking forward to seeing lots of baby photos.
